CSMU's Notable Achievements in Sustainability Rankings Over the Years

Integration with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Our university’s mid- to long-term development plans integrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through these efforts, we have earned the following notable distinctions:

  • 2022 – THE World University Impact Rankings, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): Ranked 67th globally (4th in Taiwan)
  • 2023 – THE World University Impact Rankings, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): Ranked 59th globally (5th in Taiwan)
  • 2023 – THE World University Impact Rankings, SDG 5 (Gender Equality): Ranked 301–400 globally (4th in Taiwan)
  • 2024 – THE World University Impact Rankings, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): Ranked 71st globally (6th in Taiwan)
  • 2024 – THE World University Impact Rankings, SDG 5 (Gender Equality): Ranked 401–600 globally (6th in Taiwan)
  • 2024 – Awarded the Entry Award in the Education Category of the 113th National Sustainable Development Awards, Executive Yuan

Fulfillment of University Social Responsibility (USR)

Our university has long committed to supporting rural and underserved communities. Through interdisciplinary teams of faculty and students, we have conducted community development, health education, and medical outreach in areas with limited healthcare resources. These initiatives have consistently earned recognition for excellence in action plans:

  • 2021 – Silver Award at the AP-Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards: “Livable Shigang — Sustainable Health”
  • 2022 – Silver Award at the AP-Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards: “Nurturing the Peace District — Building a Diverse and Integrated Care Network”
  • 2022 – Bronze Award at the AP-Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards: “Shetou Township, Changhua: LOHAS Together — Mutual Aid and Shared Living”
  • 2023 – Gold Award at the AP-Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards: “Sustainable Cultivation of Talent with Dementia without Losing Resolve”
  • 2023 – Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards – Social Inclusion Leadership: for university, hospital, and NGO collaboration
  • 2024 – Bronze Award at the AP Sustainability Action Awards: “Transdisciplinarity Cultivation, Elderly Empowerment, Create LOHAS”
  • 2024 – Gold Award at the Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards: “Mobile Dentistry for Sustainable Health”
  • 2024 – Bronze Award at the Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards: “Hearing and Health: Supporting Elders and Children Together”
  • 2024 – Bronze Award at the AP Sustainability Expo: Green Design
  • 2025 – Gold Award at the Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards: “Sustainable International Collaboration and Practice in Cross-Border Higher Education for SDGs Implementation”
  • 2025 – Silver Award at the Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards: “Dental Care for Healthy Taiwan: Southbound Initiative Partnershipsy”

Environmental Sustainability Initiatives

In alignment with Taiwan’s “2050 Net-Zero Emissions Pathways and Strategies” and the “Renewable Energy Development Act,” our university is actively establishing a zero-carbon campus. We continuously monitor and disclose electricity usage and carbon emissions to steadily reduce our greenhouse gas footprint:

  • 2022 – Cheng-Ai Building received the Ministry of the Interior’s Green Building Mark (Certified Level)
  • 2022 – At our 62nd university anniversary celebration, we declared our intention to achieve 100% carbon neutrality by 2050, demonstrating our commitment to climate action at both global and national levels
  • 2023 – Received the Indoor Air Quality Self-Management Excellent Certification from Taichung City Government
  • February 29, 2024 – Signed the University Sustainability Initiative with the Taiwan Sustainable Energy Research Foundation, pledging to enhance university governance, amplify social impact, and uphold environmental sustainability
  • June 5, 2024 (World Environment Day) – Together with the Central Taiwan University System (M6) and the Cross-University Alliance of the Central Region University Social Responsibility Program, we jointly endorsed the Central Taiwan University Climate Change and Education Declaration to raise awareness of climate change, integrate climate education into curricula, and promote sustainable development practices
  • 2024 – Awarded the Net-Zero Innovation Award in the 3rd Taichung Sunshine A+ Competition
  • 2025 – Energy Efficiency Benchmarking Award, Ministry of Economic Affairs – Finalist Award
